Workshops and Masterclasses with Peter Knight
"By risking nothing, we risk everything"
"Peter Knight is a magician. His Masterclass had his audience and participants hypnotised. He took us all back to the basics of making music together, not with a tune, but with a single sound. I have no clue as to why my tears started to flow when it was over, but I knew that the very essence of my musicality had been changed by Peter" Sian Phillips, Director, Fiddle Festival of Britian
"I have to say that the recent workshop Peter gave us on aspects of improvisation within traditional music is quite simply the best I have ever experienced within our genre. It left our student body - excellent players themselves, and hard to impress - both amazed and excited, and has already resulted in several serious new directions of study, particularly for our fiddle players" Brian McNeill

"Peter, you are not only an inspiring musician, but a truly inspiring master teacher. I said at the start of the weekend that I wanted to restore my love for the violin. Well, through your wonderful teaching, guidance, inspiration, gentle challenges, ability to push me beyond my self-imposed boundaries and your warm friendship, my love affair with the instrument has become a passion like never before. Thank you so much! I have learned not only new technical skills, but how to find a new integrity and dynamic in my music”
The experiences I have shared with previous participants have made my life that much richer, and I have been rewarded by the process of watching individuals tackling their particular fears and challenges and overcoming them in a heartwarming and often spectacular fashion.
It is an uplifting and totally engaging process, and with the advantage of hindsight I feel that it is an opportunity that anyone with an Instrument and a genuine love of Music can benefit from. The gatherings are a two day retreat from life's realities, and a chance to become completely immersed in the process of creativity.
As always, we return to the beautiful Village of Oddington in the Cotswolds, although this year there will be a change to the format that the Masterclass has followed for the past few years.
On the Friday evening there will be the option to attend the regular pre Masterclass gathering, giving me and the participants an opportunity to meet each other and break the ice ahead of the weekend. The venue for this has yet to be confirmed. This cost is not covered by the course fee.
On Saturday evening I will host an informal group ‘session’ and we will be joined by a special guest.
There will be great food, and plenty of it. Mo Griffiths expertise in the Kitchen has become a fundamental part of the package :)
If you are passionate about Music, enjoy the company of like minded people, wish to move on from whatever stage of musical ability you are at and are open to challenge then this is the place to be.
